The leadership of the non indegenes in Bayelsa State on behalf of their teeming members, has feliciated  with the Governor Douye Diri, on his re-election for a second term as the governor of the State.

Mazi Johnson Onuma, who is the  Special Adviser to the Governor on Non-Indigene Matters and President, Bayelsa State chapter of Ohanaze Ndi-Igbo, ralayed this when he spoke to journalists on Tuesday. He added that the Governor’s victory at the Saturday polls was not a surprise neither was it a mistake, because the people voted him en masse.

He went on to say that Governor Diri’s government gave the non indegenes a sense of belonging and as well included them in the decision making and implementation of policies for the development and well-being of all Nigerians living in Bayelsa State.

In his words; “The victory is a victory for the people. The governor has shown us a people oriented leadership and ordinary we didn’t expect any thing less. The people came out en mass to shown their love and support for his leadership. So his victory was not by mistake. It is the will of the people.

“As a non indigene living in Bayelsa State, the leadership of Governor Diri showed us how to carry everyone along. He run an inclusive leadership, where you have even non Bayelsans being engaged in governance. So we are not just here doing business but part of policy making and implementation. And for us we have never had it this good that all non indigene interests are properly captured in the policy making of the state. It is indeed very laudable. And his peaceful dispositions in managing the issues that concern non indigenes earned his the total support of the people.

“The governor has shown us a very green light and we are asking him to do more for us. We pledge to give him utmost support to ensure that every policies that has to do with the development and success of his government is fully supported. We the non indigenes in Beyelsa state, we spread across all the local government areas, all the wards doing one economic activity or the other, and we contribute to the internal revenue of the state. Therefore we will continue to do our best to support him and the State itself. This new beginning of another tenure of his government we believe shall be more fruitful and prosperous every one in the State.

“So we wish him a successful second tenure. Our people have seen development and peace under his governorship of the State, and we have seen a coordinated leadership with difference. And we believe he will take us to a better Bayelsa.”
