Abeokuta, Ogun State – Controversial Nigerian singer Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, has turned himself in at the Ogun State Police Headquarters following his declaration as a wanted individual.
The Ogun State Police Command had earlier declared Portable wanted over an alleged attack on three state government officials who were carrying out their duties at his bar in the Sango area of the state. The incident prompted law enforcement authorities to launch an investigation, urging the singer to report to the police.
Confirming his surrender, the Ogun State Police Public Relations Officer, Omolola Odutola, issued a statement on Wednesday in Abeokuta, the state capital. According to Odutola, Portable arrived at the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Eleweran, Abeokuta, at precisely 13:23 hours on February 19, 2025.
“His presence at the State Criminal Investigation Department is in connection with an ongoing investigation,” Odutola stated. “The Command assures the public that due process will be followed in handling this matter, and updates will be provided as necessary.”
Portable’s legal troubles stem from an altercation in which he allegedly assaulted three government officials during an official duty at his establishment. While the exact details of the altercation remain undisclosed, the authorities have reiterated their commitment to ensuring justice prevails.
The police spokesperson further urged members of the public to refrain from spreading unverified information about the case. “We urge members of the public to remain calm and avoid spreading unverified information. The Ogun State Police Command remains committed to upholding justice and maintaining public order,” she added.
Portable, known for his energetic personality and headline-making antics, has had several run-ins with the law in the past. His decision to turn himself in marks a significant step in the ongoing legal process, with many waiting to see how the investigation unfolds.
