Delta State NDE Office Disburses Resettlement Items To Trained Beneficiaries

The National Directorate of Employment (NDE) last week in Effurun, Uvwie local government council, Delta State, disbursed resettlement items to One Hundred and Thirty (130) beneficiaries of the Community Based Training Scheme (CBTS) and School-On-Wheel (SOW) of the Vocational Skill Development (VSD) department programme. 

NDE Director General, Mallam Abubakar Nuhu Fikpo, at the opening session of the event said that the objective of the SOW is to establish competent artisans in both rural and semi-urban areas who would in turn become self employed and further create wealth and reduce poverty to other through multiplier effect. 

He hinted that the CBTS is to emphasize the significance of some emerging sets for globalization competitiveness and to impart relevant marketable skill set that is community based, to curb societal crimes and youth restiveness due to unemployment.

He added  that the resettlement items are three year loan package with three year repayment plan that attracts 9% interest. He advised the beneficiaries consider themselves already made as their chances of becoming their own bosses has been offered to them and emphasized the need of using the tool for their various purpose or go back to the pools of the unemployed and assures them that their progress will be closely monitored.

In his part, the State coordinator, NDE Delta State office, Mr Jinanwa Chukwuma, said the Vocational skill development department is the life wire and engine of the Directorate. In his statement, he said that the beneficiaries have been trained on various skills such as Catering, hair dressings, sitelite dish installation, computer amongst others. He further stated that the resettlement items will help them create employment and wealth for themselves and others thereby reducing poverty and employment problem in Delta State and the Nation at large.

The Principal Information and Public Relations Officer, Okonkwor Ngozi Lynda, in a statement said that the Director of the VSD department programme congratulated the beneficiaries and advised them to be serious in their chosen vocation and skills because their are no more white collar jobs out there.
