The Director General of the Tanzanian Export Processing Zones Authority (EPZA), Mr. Charles Jackson on Tuesday, praised the managerial professionalism in the operation Oil and Gas Free Zones Authority (OGFZA) in Nigeria under the capable hands its Managing Director/CEO of the , Sen. Tijjani Yahaya Kaura.
The EPZA DG who said this during a meeting session of his delegation and Senator TIjjani in Abuja, went to further to express his interest in understudying the uniqueness and system of operation of OGFZA for onward utilization in his home country’s processing zones; Tanzania Export Processing Zones Authority (EPZA).
He also expressed interest in fostering a special business arrangement between OGFZA and EPZA, as well as to partner with OGFZA and exchange ideas on Free Zones management and operations
Responding to the EPZA DG, Sen. Tijjan thanked the delegation for the visit, and appreciate their interest in forging a partnership between the Oil and Gas Free Zones Authority (OGFZA) and the Tanzanian Export Processing Zones Authority (EPZA).
The OGFZA Boss also reminded the EPZA delegation of Nigeria’s longstanding co-operation with Tanzania especially in the areas of politics and economy.
“Nigerian leaders played a huge role in supporting the then Tanzania Leader Julius Nyerere in the struggle for the economic and political emancipation of Africa from colonial rule.
“When Tanzania eventually got its independence in 1961, Nigeria was amongst one of the first Countries that immediately established an embassy in Tanzania the following year (1962).
“So our countries have had this longstanding co-operation, and am happy that EPZA delegation are equally interested in building on this co-operation for our mutual economic benefits.
“OGFZA is willing to partner with EPZA and provide all necessary assistance that will strengthen the co-operation of our both agencies, and I look forward to future engagements between us”. He said.
