The Young Progressives Party (YPP) candidate for Obingwa/Osisioma/Ugwunagbo Federal Constituency in the forthcoming  2023 elections, Hon. Ibe Michael Nwoke, has enjoined youths in Abia and across Nigeria to leverage the power of their huge population to change the narrative of governance, by voting candidates who can deliver the dividend of democracy they want.

Hon. Nwoke, noted that good leadership is a panacea for  good governance and development. This he said has been proven by western governments and in some States in Nigeria.

Contained in his statement to mark Nigeria’s 62 Independent Day celebration, Nwoke expressed hope that Obingwa/Osisioma/Ugwunagbo Federal Constituency, Abia State and Nigeria would be better development and the citizens enjoy dividends of good governance if people with capacity and credibility are elected to head the helms of affairs of the country.

The YPP Candidate, further said that Nigeria is blessed with lots of natural resources that could transform the country’s   economic fortune and development, if only the youth will rise up against bad leadership by voting credible candidates in 2023 elections.

He expressed worry that Nigeria has remained a developing country despite being blessed with huge human and natural resources, he then harped that good leadership remains Nigeria’s hope to get it right.

The former Obingwa Council boss, said; “As we roll out the drums in celebration of this year’s independence, I want us to take a retrospect on how far we have come as a people. Let us take a critical look at our nation and the journey so far, with a view to making amends and profering possible solutions.

“It is evident to Nigerians that the country has performed below expectations when compared to other nations of the world. We have alot of untapped potentials and opportunities that abound for nation building, and socio-economic growth, and with the right legislation, we can get things right”.

The YPP House of Representatives candidate, went on to call on the youths in Abia state and across the country to follow the current trend of youths in leadership across the globe  to change their story through the ballots in the 2023 general elections.

“Nigerian youths remain the most creative with lots of ingenuity in them but are sadly under utilized hence the regular brain drain in different sectors of the economy. Our youths must be involved at all levels of governance for a progressive society.

“Our youths must come to terms that the time for change is now. We must utilize the opportunity available to us across the globe and speak in one voice through the ballots come 2023. We must also realize that our talents and potentials have been left untapped for a long time and we have to take our future in our hands because the future we seek is now”, he said.

Hon. Nwoke further pray for a united Abia and Nigeria and also called  on youths to shun all forms of violence, thuggery and acts of criminality, before, during and after the elections.
