Poised to equip the younger generation with asound mind set and confidence in their future endeavours, Protect the Precious Foundation took her latest campaign to students in secondary school.
Bearing in mind the recent statistics by ONE Campaign which states that as at 11th October, 2021, 130 millions girls are currently out of school globally, the Foundation believes that targeted human efforts can change the narrative for the better.
As the United Nations set out 11th October every year to create awareness on the need to ensure equal access to basic amenities of life, and to celebrate girls globally for their impact in the society, Protect the Precious lend its voice to calls for a better orientation and compulsory education for girl child globally.
Furthermore, Protect the Precious Foundation, a girl child advocacy group with a penchant for caregiven to childs in need, in its message in celebration of day; emphasise the need for girl child to realize that she is made for more despite the legal, traditional and even religious beliefs that casts limitations to her aspirations.
To match its words with actions, the goup took her campaign to Uzuakoli Girls Secondary School, Bende Local Government Area of Abia State to educate young school girls on believing in themselves and aiming high in life.
The foundation further took time to educate the girl child on menstrual Hygiene and the limitations of the girl child in a digital generation in line with the theme for the year “Digital Generation, Our Generation”.
Addressing the schools, Victory Ahaiwe took turns to explain to the girls what menstrual Hygiene was all about and the need to stay clean and fresh during that time of the month and emphasized on the need for regular change of underwears and bathing at least twice a day to remain clean and fresh while maintaining beauty.
Also, Joy Ekekwe, who spoke on the limitations of the girl child in a digital generation urged the girls to embrace the modern trend but insists they must make good and adequate use of the digital world.
According to her, “rather than spend your time chatting away, please spend it on seeking knowledge. Acquire a certificate, skills and learn new things online, that is the only way to be digitally aware”. She encouraged them to seek careers in the technology and engineering world to remain relevant in the changing world.
The lead Person, Protect the Precious Foundation, Norah Okafor used the forum to remind the girls that the world is for everyone and not a “man’s world” according to a popular cliche. She maintained that it takes discipline, perseverance, and dedication to achieve whatever they set their heart to achieve.
She encouraged them to remain focused on their academics, shun peer pressure and remain determined to be a voice in their generation.
The Principal of the Junior section of the school, Mrs. Angela Nwankwo and the Senior Prefect of the school, who were all elated and excited for the visit, appreciated the team and prayed God to empower them with more grace to keep impacting their generation.
The high point was the presentation of sanitary pads and exercise books to the students.
