JAMB Joins Forces On War Against COVID-19, Donates 3 Ventilators

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has donated three ventilators to support the fight against coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

Two of the ventilators were provided to University of Abuja Teaching Hospital, Gwagwalada and the other to Bwari General Hospital, Bwari-Abuja.

Ventilator is a machine that helps individuals to breathe by sending air in and out of the lungs, and is key in management of patients with severe cases of coronavirus.

A statement made available to newsmen in Abuja by JAMB’s Head of Public Affairs, Dr Fabian Benjamin, said the donation of the multi-million naira ventilators is to position the hospitals for any eventuality.

“The donation of these ventilators which cost several millions is to strategically place these Hospitals in good stead to give necessary treatment to COVID-19 patients whether in Bwari or any other part of Abuja.

“However, this gesture was in addition to the several other interventions aimed at aiding the fight against the virus,” the statement said.

While reiterating the Board’s commitment to support the fight against the pandemic within its limited means and by so doing, protecting its teeming candidates, JAMB called on all Nigerians to throw their weight behind the Federal Government to contain the spread of the deadly virus.

“JAMB is urging all prospective tertiary institutions’ students, parents and, indeed, the entire country to support the government by abiding by all instructions aimed at fighting the spread of the pandemic.

“Furthermore, the Board appreciates the support and donations from corporate bodies and individuals towards complementing government’s efforts aimed at containing the spread of the pandemic as well as treating those already infected with the virus,” the statement added.
