The Governors’ Mandate Network has taken Pastor Osagie Ize Iyamu to the cleaner for appointing campaign team when the nation is locked down because of coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.
Ize Iyamu had on Thursday announced the appointment of 13 directors into his campaign organization.
According to him, the appointment is to drive his agenda and consolidate the gains already achieved.
Recall that the nation in the past two weeks has been battling the novel virus that has taken the lives of many people in the world, Nigeria inclusive.
To contain the spread of the virus, the federal and state governments have decided to lock down and suspend all activities as a drastic measures.
Reacting to Iyamu’s appointment of campaign team, the Governor’s Mandate Network, in a statement by its Chairman, Earl Osaro Onaiwu, said that with this careless attitude of Iyamu cannot be governor of the state.
Onaiwu said while other people are expressing concern and donating whatever they have to check the spread of the virus, Iyamu is busy setting up campaign team.
He said such an attitude of a man who want to be the governor of a state is unfortunate, adding that the safety and well-being of the people is not his concern.
Commending the efforts of the state governor, Godwin Obaseki, Onaiwu said the governor has done well so far in containing the spread of the virus.
He call on Edo state and stakeholders to support the governor’s effort, noting that to overcome the spread of the virus, all hands must be on deck.
He said: “Iyamu is a shame to the people of Edo State. When people are busy looking for solution, Iyumu is looking for a how to set up campaign team. is it not when people are alive that you can rule them?
“Concerned Nigerians are busy donating to see how the virus can be eliminating in the country, even the governor, Obaseki is working round the clock to ensure that the virus does not spread and yet somebody, who want to become a governor, in this trying time is setting up campaign team. He will never get that position. Iyamu will never be a governor of Edo state.”
