One of the world’s leading technology companies, Google, says it is fully committed to support Nigerian youths by advancing their digital skills in the nation’s creative industry.
Public Policy Manager, Google Nigeria, Seember Nyager, who made this known on Tuesday during the ‘Google Day’ in the ongoing 10th edition of the Zuma Film Festival in Abuja, said the multinational company will encourage more youths to leverage on ‘YouTube’ to showcase their creative skills.
Speaking on the theme, “Content Connectivity: Everyview Everywhere,” Nyager said Google is working with several partners to ensure that people can leverage on the economic, social and education values of YouTube’s digital contents.
According to Nyager, the internet-service technology company is also providing the needed drive for youths to diversify their source of income by earning money from YouTube while at the same time maintaining their jobs.

On his part, the Director General, Nigeria Copyright Commission (NCC), John Asein, said the event was imperative as youths have the potential to turn things around and use the digital platforms to be able to create wealth in the society.
Asein, who spoke on ‘Promoting Sustainable Creative System in the Digital World’, said the Commission would continupe to support any creative initiative that empowers youth in digital technology .
While saying NCC is working diligently to address copyright issues on the online and physical space, Asein, said the issue of piracy has always been there but the Commission would adopt a more inclusive approach to fighting the menace.
“There is need to share information and more intelligent based in our enforcement strategies and we are going to work more with industry’s stakeholders to ensure that we address the issue of piracy,” the NCC boss said.
The event, which also witnessed a panel session where panellists shared experience on using and sharing contents on YouTube as well as leveraging on it to generate income, attracted large crowd of participants.
