The General Secretary of the Academic Staff Union of Research Institutions (ASURI), Dr Theophilus Ndubuaku, has expressed optimism that President Mohammadu Buhari, will in no distance time pass into law, the National Research Innovation Council (NRIC) Bill, will according to him is the panacea to technological revolution and development in Nigeria.
Ndubuaku, also noted that a constituted NRIC backed by law; is the appropriate structural foundation much needed for an active change that would boost Nigeria’s economy, and most importantly provide millions of jobs.
Awarded an Exemplary Leadership Award by the ASURI FCT branch for his struggle and outstanding contributions to research in Nigeria, he confidently said, “the passed of the bill will change Nigeria’s technological pursuit for good.”
Recall that NRIC establishment Bill has been passed by the two Houses of the National Assembly and awaiting Presidential assent.
Convinced that NRIC establishment would really change Nigeria]’s narrative, Ndubuaku took the struggle for the passage of NRIC Bill upon himself; leading rallies and protests across the country including the National Assembly.
In their remarks at the award in Abuja, stakeholders in the research sector who blew Dr Ndubuaku’s horn; described him as a champion of Research innovations in Nigeria.
He is a member of the Entomological Society of Nigeria (ESN); Nigeria Society for Plant Protection (NSPP); Agricultural Society of Nigeria (ASN); and Nigerian Society of Experimental Biologists (NISEB).
