Exactly one week ago, the President of the Nigeria Labour Congress, Comrade Ayuba Wabba was reelected to serve another term of four years as the President of the Union.
The Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF) wishes to congratulate Comrade Ayuba Wabba and wishes him another successful term of office, considering the remarkable work he is doing towards extricating the average Nigerian worker from the shackles of poverty.
“Indeed, the NGF and the NLC may have crossed paths in an unsavory manner in the past, particularly regarding the National Minimum Wage matter where we held different positions, but this should not be construed to mean that we are adversaries, of any sort, for any reason.
“Both the NLC and the NGF are agents of change, who at that material time found themselves on opposing sides of the national Minimum wage divide. But we are both motivated by the same altruistic desire to serve our country in the most responsible way and to ensure that Nigeria does not drift into an economic abyss from where it would be hard to retrieve as, “we are partners in Progress”, in the words of Mr. Asishana Bayo Okauru, The Director General of the NGF.
Okauru further stated in his celebration of Comrade Wabba’s second mandate that “while the NLC President (Comrade Ayuba Wabba) works hard to better the lives of the Nigerian worker at all levels and strata of government, the NGF strives to create a new and conscious citizenry, leadership and government at the subnational level. This means that we
are both working towards the same objectives.”
Okauru thereafter wishes Comrade Wabba well and hopes that he delivers on his mandate as he had done in his first tenure.
